Lokesh Kumar Jangid (IAS: 2014 Batch, MP Cadre)
Administrative & Motivational Icons — Bhilwara, Rajasthan
Lokesh Kumar Jangid was born in a humble family originally from Rajasthan but raised in Nanded, Maharashtra, after his grandfather migrated there in search of better opportunities. His father passed away when Lokesh was just seven years old, which plunged the family into hardship. His grandfather Madanlal and uncle Ashok stepped up, instilling in Lokesh the value of education, resilience, and curiosity about governance and public affairs.
Lokesh excelled in academics and extracurriculars during school in Nanded. He pursued a B.Tech in Computer Science, earning a placement at Tata Consultancy Services in 2008. Despite the stability that offered, he chose to leave the job and move to Delhi to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Exam, driven by a desire for social impact rather than corporate success.
In his first attempt in 2009, he secured All India Rank 910, which led to a post in the DANICS cadre in the Lakshadweep Islands. Unfulfilled and determined, he continued preparing while serving. After multiple attempts, he achieved AIR 68 in 2014, finally becoming an IAS officer.
Assigned to the Madhya Pradesh cadre, his first field posting as SDM in Vijaypur, Sheopur district began in November 2016. Known for his integrity and willingness to expose corruption, he faced nine transfers in 54 months, including a high-profile controversy in Barwani over oxygen concentrator procurement during COVID‑19.
Despite adversity, he continued to innovate launching education initiatives like “Padho Vijaypur”, empowering rural children, and leading COVID awareness campaigns and women’s vocational training in Sheopur and Niwari districts.
Lokesh’s story—from a young boy in modest circumstances to a self-motivated achiever who challenged the system—stands as a vivid example of courage, perseverance, and public service. For the youth, it proves that with steadfast vision, discipline, and commitment to ethics, even the most ambitious dreams can become reality.
